How to Calculate Attendance Percentage?

Knowing how to calculate attendance percentage is useful for students, teachers, and anyone who needs to track attendance at school, college, or work.

The basic formula is simple:

Attendance Percentage = (Number of Days Attended ÷ Total Number of Days) × 100

Example

Suppose you attended 42 days out of 50 total days.

(42 ÷ 50) × 100 = 84%

Your attendance percentage is therefore 84%.

How to Calculate Attendance From Classes

The same formula works when attendance is recorded by classes instead of days. For example, if you attended 36 classes out of 40:

(36 ÷ 40) × 100 = 90%

So, your attendance rate is 90%.

How to Calculate the Percentage of Absence

If you want to find your absence percentage, subtract your attendance percentage from 100:

100% − 90% = 10% absence
